    SEVIS

What SEVIS is, how it works, and what you need to know about the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System.

    Last updated April 2, 2026

    What is SEVIS?

SEVIS stands for Student and Exchange Visitor Information System. It is the US Department of State's system for tracking all student and exchange visitors in the USA, including J-1 visa holders.

As a Camp Leaders participant, you are registered in SEVIS as part of your visa process.

Where do I find my SEVIS ID?

Your SEVIS ID is displayed in the visa section of your Camp Leaders profile. Log in and navigate to the visa section to view it.

If your SEVIS ID is showing a dash or is blank, this means your DS-2019 has not yet been issued. Once your DS-2019 has been processed, you'll be notified by email and the following will appear in your visa section:

    • Your SEVIS ID
    • A link to download your DS-2019 form

If these haven't appeared and your visa appointment is less than 10 days away, contact Camp Leaders straight away.

Do I need to pay the SEVIS fee?

No. The SEVIS fee ($35 USD) is included in your Camp Leaders program fee. Camp Leaders pays it on your behalf no later than five working days before your visa appointment. If the fee is still showing as unpaid after this time, contact Camp Leaders.

What is the SEVIS receipt and where do I find it?

The SEVIS receipt (also called the I-901 payment confirmation) is your proof that the SEVIS fee has been paid. You must bring it to your visa appointment and when you enter the US.

Your receipt will be available to download from the visa section of your Camp Leaders profile. The exact location may differ depending on your visa sponsor, so check the instructions in your profile.

The address on your SEVIS receipt will be your visa sponsor's address, not your own. This is normal.

How do I print my SEVIS receipt?

    1. Go to fmjfee.com and select "Check I-901 Status"
    2. Enter your SEVIS ID (found in the visa section of your Camp Leaders profile), your last name, and your date of birth in MM/DD/YYYY format
    3. Select "Check Status / View Payment Confirmation"
    4. Select "View Payment Confirmation," then "Print"

If you don't have access to a printer, click "Print" and then "Save as PDF" to save the file. You can print it once you have access to a printer.

Bring your printed SEVIS receipt to your visa appointment and keep a digital copy on your phone and in your email as a backup.
