    Cost and what's included

Understand the Camp Leaders program fee, what it covers, and what additional costs to budget for your summer in America.

    Last updated March 25, 2026

How much does the program cost?

Camp Leaders operates in over 15 countries and pricing may vary depending on where you are applying from. Visit the Camp Leaders website for the most up-to-date pricing for your country.

Why do I have to pay to go to camp?

Camp Leaders is a cultural exchange program that requires visa sponsorship, health insurance, 24/7 support while you are in the US, and full preparation before you travel. Your program fee covers these services, helping to make sure you are safe, supported, and ready for your experience at camp.

What is included in the fee?

Your Camp Leaders program fee covers:

    • J-1 visa sponsorship, DS-2019 form, and SEVIS fee

    • Health insurance for up to 120 days

    • 24/7 support throughout your time in the US

    • Access to the Camp Leaders platform for placement and preparation

    • Preparation course and pre-departure support

    • Camp matching and placement

Your accommodation and meals are also provided by your camp at no extra cost.

    What is not included?

The following are not included in the program fee:

    • Flights (included in some countries, check with your local office)

    • Police check (the type and cost varies by country)

    • Spending money for time off and post-camp travel

    • Insurance upgrade or extension beyond the standard 120 days

    • Any flight change fees

How much will I earn at camp?

How much you earn depends on your role, your experience, and which camp you are placed at. Some roles and camps pay more than others, and uploading a relevant qualification for a specialist role can increase your pocket money. Returning participants often earn more than first-timers and negotiate pocket money directly with their camp director.

For full details on pocket money, visit the Camp Leaders pricing page.

Are there any additional costs I should budget for?

How much extra money you need depends on what you would like to do during time off and after camp. We recommend making a rough post-camp travel plan before you go, so you have an idea of how much to budget. The Camp Leaders team have all traveled in the US and are happy to help with travel planning.

For a full breakdown of costs, visit the Camp Leaders pricing page.

    Can I pay in installments?

Yes. While payment schedules and amounts may vary from country to country, Camp Leaders offers payment in installments globally. We want to make it as easy as possible for you to take part.

When do I make my first payment?

Log in to your application or visit the Camp Leaders website for the most up-to-date information about payment schedules for your country.

Will I get my money back if I change my mind?

Cooling-off periods and refund terms vary by country. Check the Camp Leaders website for your country or refer to your program agreement for the specific policy that applies to you.

If you change your mind after being accepted into the program, speak to the Camp Leaders team about your refund options. You can also transfer your fees to the next season.
