When does camp start and how long does it last?
Summer camps start at various dates between early May and mid-June. Camp lasts around 9 weeks for camp counselors, 10 weeks for support staff, and 11 weeks for day camp counselors. Some camps run longer, and you will earn more in those cases.
After your camp placement ends, you have up to 30 days to travel around America.
What are the application deadlines?
The latest date to apply for the upcoming summer season is typically mid-April, though this may vary by country. Applying earlier gives you the best chance of finding the right camp, as positions fill quickly and camps begin hiring as early as the fall before.
When do placements happen?
Camp directors review applications and hire staff throughout the hiring season, which runs from late fall through to spring. Most participants find their camp match within about 30 days of reaching the Ready to Hire stage. For some it happens more quickly, and for others it takes a bit longer.
The earlier you reach Ready to Hire, the more camps will be available and the better your chances of finding your ideal match.
Can I travel after camp?
Yes. One of the best parts of the program is the 30-day travel period after camp. Once your camp contract ends, you have up to 30 days to travel anywhere in the United States before returning home.
Many participants use this time to explore cities, national parks, and beaches with the friends they have made at camp.
