    Connecting with camps

How to browse camps, connect with directors, and increase your chances of getting hired for summer camp.

    Last updated April 2, 2026

How do I browse camps on the platform?

Once you are Ready to Hire, go to the Camps section of your Camp Leaders profile. You can browse all available camps, filter by location, role type, or other preferences, and view camp profiles to learn more about each one.

What is the watchlist and how do I know if a camp is interested?

When a camp director likes your profile, they can add you to their watchlist. When this happens, you will receive an email notification. You can also use the Interested In You filter on the Camps page to see all camps that have expressed interest in you. This helps you focus on the camps that are already looking your way.

How do I request an interview with a camp?

You do not have to wait for camps to come to you. You can request an interview directly through the platform:

    1. Log in to your Camp Leaders profile

    2. Head to the Camps section

    3. Find a camp that interests you and check if they have open interview slots

    4. Request an interview and add a cover note to stand out

You can request interviews with up to three camps at a time, so take a look around before you commit.

If the camp has available interview slots, you can book one straight away. If they do not have open slots, you can still send a request and they can suggest times if they would like to meet you.

A short, personal cover note explaining why you are interested in that camp and what you would bring to the role can make a real difference.

What happens after I request an interview?

If a camp accepts your interview request, they will either send you a booking link to choose an interview time or contact you directly to arrange one. Keep an eye on your emails, spam folder, and Camp Leaders messages so you do not miss their reply.

Can I only be On Review with 1 camp at a time?

Yes. You can only be On Review with 1 camp at a time. If a camp puts you On Review, other camps will not be able to do the same until that review is resolved.

If you are On Review with a camp, we recommend messaging them promptly to show your enthusiasm. Respond quickly to any communication, as directors are often interviewing several candidates and timely responses make a difference.

Can I find my own camp?

If you are applying to Camp Leaders for the first time, the team will find a camp for you. Camp Leaders has a team of camp experts who have been to camp themselves and are ready to match you with the right camp based on your application and preferences.

However, if you have already found a camp and they have offered you a role, you can still get visa sponsorship through Camp Leaders. Contact the team to discuss how this works.

Can I get placed with a friend or partner?

Yes. You can link your profiles together when logged in. To do this, enter your friend's applicant ID in the linked applications section of your profile. They will then need to accept the link request from their own profile. Once linked, Camp Leaders knows you would like to be placed at the same camp. This applies to friends and couples.

However, this is a request, not a guarantee. It's ultimately up to each camp whether they want to hire friends or couples. Some camps are happy to do so, while others have a policy of not hiring linked applicants. Requesting joint placement can also reduce the number of camps available to you, so we recommend being flexible.

Even if you end up at different camps, you'll still have the chance to meet up during time off and the 30-day travel period after camp.

What is the Interested In You filter?

The Interested In You filter is found on the Camps page. It shows you only the camps that have added you to their watchlist. This is the fastest way to find camps that are already interested in your profile, so you can prioritize reaching out to them.
