Step-by-step guide to applying for Camp Leaders, from creating your profile to completing your application.

    Last updated April 2, 2026

    How do I apply?

To apply for Camp Leaders, create a profile on the Camp Leaders platform. You can do this from your phone or computer. Once registered, you will be guided through each section of the application step by step.

    What are the application stages?

As you progress through your application, your status will update on your profile:

    • New Application means you have created your profile and started filling in your details. Complete the available sections to move forward

    • Deposit Paid means you have made your initial payment. Not all countries require a deposit. At this stage, more sections of your application will open up, including references. Complete as much as you can before your interview. Your interviewer will use your profile to guide the conversation, so the more information you provide, the more helpful they can be and the less time you will need to spend in the interview completing information

    • Accepted means you've passed your Camp Leaders interview and been accepted onto the program. New sections of your application will open up for you to complete, including medical information and your background check. If you are a returning participant or have already found your own camp, Accepted means your camp has been notified and they will need to make you a formal placement offer

    • Ready to Hire means your application is complete and your profile is now visible to camp directors. This is when the hiring process begins and you can start browsing camps, expressing interest, and requesting interviews

    • Get Prepared means you have been matched with a camp and it is time to sort your visa, paperwork, insurance, and travel arrangements

    • Ready to Fly means everything is in place and you are ready to travel to the US. You must have completed the preparation course to reach this stage. Make sure you have packed your documents

    • On Program means you are at camp

    • Alumni means you have completed your program. You can apply again as a returning participant

The exact steps within each stage may vary depending on your country. Your profile will guide you through everything in the right sequence. You do not need to complete everything in one sitting. You can save your progress and come back at any time.

How long does the application take?

The time it takes depends on how quickly you complete each section. The application itself can be done in a few hours if you have your documents ready. References and background checks may take longer as they depend on other people.

The sooner you complete everything, the sooner you reach Ready to Hire and the more camp options you will have.

Can I save and come back to my application?

Yes. Your progress is saved automatically. You can log out and return to your application whenever you are ready. Any completed sections will still be there when you come back.

Do I need to pay a deposit?

This depends on your country. Some countries require a deposit as one of the first steps, while others do not collect a deposit at all. For the specific payment steps, amounts, and schedule that apply to you, check the Camp Leaders website for your country or log in to your profile.

    What is the program agreement?

The program agreement is the formal contract between you and Camp Leaders. It outlines the terms and conditions of your participation in the program, including responsibilities, fees, cancellation and refund policies, and what is expected of you during your time in the US.

You must sign your program agreement before your interview and before you can be accepted onto the program. Take time to read it carefully and we recommend reviewing it with your parents or guardians so they also understand the responsibilities involved. You will sign it digitally through your Camp Leaders profile.
