    Returning home

Everything you need to do before heading home after camp, from closing your bank account to packing up.

    Last updated March 25, 2026

What to arrange before you leave the US

Before you head home, make sure you have:

    • Confirmed your return flight details

    • Collected any final pay from your camp

    • Saved your W2 information or know how to access it later (you will need it for taxes)

    • Extended or confirmed your insurance coverage through your departure date

    • Said goodbye to the friends you have made (and exchanged contact details)

    Changing your return flight

If Camp Leaders booked your flights and you want to change your return date, request the change through the travel and flights section of your profile. Changes must be made at least 72 hours before your original departure date and are subject to airline fees.

If you booked your own flights, contact your airline or travel provider directly.

Can I use my Camp Director as a reference?

Many participants use their Camp Director or supervisor as a professional reference after the program. Camp experience looks great on a CV and employers value the leadership, teamwork, and responsibility it demonstrates. Before you leave camp, ask your director if they would be happy to be listed as a reference and make sure you have their contact details.

What happens if I overstay my 30 days?

Overstaying your grace period is a serious matter. It can result in penalties, a ban from future US visa applications, and other legal consequences. Make sure you leave the US within 30 days of your camp contract end date, no exceptions.

If you are at risk of overstaying due to circumstances beyond your control (flight cancellation, medical emergency), contact Camp Leaders and your visa sponsor immediately.
